Hi John, thanks for Your rich interpretations. I myself was thinking about Demeter’s realitionship to her daughter Persephone. Demeter was not amused when Persephone disappeared with Hades in the underworld and she did curse the harvest in order to get her daughter back. In the end Persephone had to live 1/2 year on earth with her mother, the other half with her lover Hades. So she did spoil the harvest in order to bind her daughter closer to herself. The ancient gods were full of jealousy ..
That’s interesting. I knew about the half years and the seasons but did not recall the curse or thought much about Demeter’s perspective. Looking again at your drawing, I appreciate the facial expression and body language more.
Great drawing too.
Such a fine drawing – i love it.
But why the curse? Is she taking the harvest away? Perhaps she is bringing it.

Sure, she looks shifty – but could she be guarding the harvest from harm?
Okay, I’m a softy, I know!
